Nikolai Friedrich
I call this figure:
Mister Mona`s Puzzle
Nikolai Friedrich is a multiple times awarded best performer at world championship of magic and is the most successful German mentalist by far. He is also member of the group ‚The flicking fingers‘, he has been honoured with the Siegfried & Roy Award in Las Vegas and has also been magician of the year. His showpiece, which he performed at word championship, is Mona Lisa’s Puzzle – strictly spoken – her smile. One spectator chooses one of thousands of jigsaw pieces and this is Mona Lisa’s smile. This is what he gained fame for. So remarkable that David Copperfield himself bought this trick. Furthermore, Nicolai Friedrich has been finalist of the TV show ‚The next Uri Geller‘. Currently he tours throughout Germany with a full-length mental show.
But how to caricature a man who has been awarded so often? Having such a broad repertoire? Requiring a shrine for all his prizes and trophies?
You just hide all this stuff behind a curtain:-) and give him the possibility to present the essential: The one thing he owes so much to. The one thing every magician associates him with: Mona Lisa’s Smile.
I dressed him up with tails and tophat, but this little rascal spirits it behind the curtain.
So get a load of that: Nicolai in his birthday suit – ok, nearly… but at least exactly the way he likes it.

Topas & Roxanne
I call this cartoon
Levitating Stylist in Soap and Hair
Topas is one of the most famous German magicians. He achieved the world title in the supreme discipline ‚manipulation‘ at a very young age. Whilst his schoolmates spent their time in discos, he performed in Las Vegas, toured with his art throughout America and – believe it or not – played for the royal family in Monaco. One day he even required a warehouse for his prizes and trophies. He also featured a Til Schweiger film. Once upon a time he met a witch and fell in love with her, that’s the way it is. She is a highly decorated worldclass magician, too: Roxanne. They beat the event market together and are on the international stage with several full-length illusion and comedy programs to date. The two created various unique illusions.
I have tried to present one of their biggest brainchilds. Topas levitates in his solo with a keyboard. He wears a blue jacket (which he still uses to wear) in his worldclass routine and produces sunglasses and some cheesy little bells (that he just hid in it before). In my cartoon he is equipped with tails, wand and tophat… of course. Proudly showing his golden decoration of the International Federation of Magic Societies (FISM).
Presenting his latest routine – the so called Foam Illusion – in which Roxanne appears out of foam.
Roxanne herself has a fantastic change performance. She creates different hair styles out of her long mane and thus depicting different characters. Whilst Topas – mother nature was not that generous – avails himself of hers in the picture. Be honest, this is better than a rug.
We all got to stay young… which leads us to another number: the playroom. In this box illusion – on which he is very proud of – dozens of boxes appeared out of one speaker and at the end – who might have guessed – Roxanne. See her wearing the black and red dress. However, her true personality is initially revealed in the shadow. She has an award-winning solo as a spiderwoman and Topas lifts her up. One day they discovered their love for pug dogs, who are also part of the show. Hope, I did not miss on anything…

Christoph Borer
I call this picture
Lord of the runes
Christoph Borer, the Swiss mentalist, is who I mean. According to unconfirmed statements from sideline guests he is supposed to have a soft spot on mental-illusions including runes. So it suggested itself to stage the dark lord in the moonlight surrounded by rune stones. In his hand – of course – the devil’s prayer book, a game with 52 cards. He surely knows the card of your choice due to his clairvoyance.
The holster under his streaming coat is readily charged with his 52 volt battery boring machine. This borer is used to detect the card. Away back he distributed this piece of legerdemain at magic dealers.
Protruding from his hat you see the lady’s glove, one of his favourite tricks to find a card.
Since he is some kind of world-fame guru in the mental-scene, he earns a pentagramshaped halo.
He wears tails, too – unfortunately you cannot see it under his box coat.

Simon Pierro
I call this picture
Cheeky Magician
Simon Pierro is a German magician, who already entered contests in his younger years successfully.
As a dishwasher he lived the rags-to-riches story on stage. Everything he touched turned to gold, even his vest. He is Vice-World Champion of Magic and won the Siegfried & Roy Award in Las Vegas. He is from the so called ‘Stuttgarter Schule’, too. Most properly he requires a shrine for all his prizes and awards as well. Simon Pierro has been spotted in Germany by Frank Elstner for the TV format ‘Verstehen Sie Spaß’.
Soon he established himself as the ‘cheeky magician’ and has nearly been on every show during the ‘Elstner-era’. He also used magic art in the street. Made cars disappear, exasperated remover, grabbed through bullet-proof glass and made passers-by brood. He really pulled the wool over the clueless’ eyes.
He always pretends to break the classic cliché of the magician with tophat and tails. That’s surely reason enough to sort him out. I think the tails suit him good. Thanks for the fit occasion, Simon.
Here he is, the diabolic TV-cheeky magician Simon Pierro, in classic tails and golden Vice-World Champion vest. Out of his tophat jumps the hidden camera… Täätää

Julius Frack
I call this picture:
The mad tailor
Actually, I intended to draw Julius Frack at some remote period. In his younger years, he made a distinguished contest career. He was one of the most successful German magicians from the so called ‘Stuttgarter Schule’. His signature feature is/was the tailor stunt using all imaginable dressmakers equipment. The valiant little tailor turns simple cloth to a dress, which comes alive as a real woman.
His success made the world his oyster. Then he vanished into the thin air… merely to rise like a phoenix in 2008. To the surprise of the entire German experts, he competed in magic competitions as illusionist.Only a few gave him credit for this due to his close knit tailors brandmark. But he disabused all: he became World Champion of Stage Illusions.
In his latest illusion – thus his World Champion routine – his assistant Cindy floats on two chock blocks, he saws her in half and walks through her. What an effect!
Inspired by this, I drew Julius Frack as illusionist with a wagging finger. There is his brandmark in the shade, he cannot get rid of, now more than never. Indeed, he saw the floating woman with his scissors in two.
His wand turns to needle and thread in the realm of shade, of course. Thanks for making it so easy, Julius. As a ‘simple’ tailor, I would have kept you waiting. But like this you turned into my favourite headline picture.
