Joshua Jay

I call this figure
The Headcritic

Joshua Jay is one of the most famous close up- and cards magician world-wide. In his younger years, he gained fame for publishing his book: ‚Magic – The complete course‘. A vast number of workshops made him travel the world. For several years he has been writing a column for the American journal MAGIC, published in Las Vegas. He reviews tricks there. Many tricks. In fact: he reviews tricks like on a assembly line. This gave the reason to caricature him. As headcritic of MAGIC he works in his office in Las Vegas at the floating assembly line and reviews with his wand the latest tricks. Many things end up in the trash, a few things are possibly viable. A little is his column worth and even less, only the exquisite diamonds go to his own top head. The big archetype for all American magicians –Dai Vernon- hangs on the wall, next to his book. It figures, I have equipped the excellent magician with tophat and tails in the American colours.

This cartoon has been published in the „Magische Welt“ 2/2010 full page to cut it out. So you can hang it over your bed or slot it into your cardstack.
